President Nangolo Mbumba has hailed the decision by the US government to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, as a step in the right direction.

In a statement, Dr. Mbumba says the de-listing is equally a step towards the normalisation of relations between Cuba and the US. 

Despite the opening of the new academic year this week, learners at some schools in the Zambezi Region are without accommodation pending the recruitment of hostel staff.

Zambezi Education Director Alex Sikume says there is a delay in the opening of four new hostels in the region.

Erongo Region Governor Neville Andre has called for a collective effort from all relevant stakeholders to improve the quality of education for learners. 

In an interview with nbc News at Swakopmund, Andre stressed the importance of a united approach to address the challenges in the education system.
