Patrick Kauta appointed as new NPL Chairperson

African Stars Chairman Patrick Kauta was appointed as the new Namibia Premier League's Chairperson at the organisation's Elective Congress at Safari Court in Windhoek yesterday. He has made it clear that he has ambitious plans for the league. Besides the election of a chairperson, the NPL elective congress also lead to the appointment of seven executive members in their respective positions. The meeting commenced smoothly as only one candidate had been nominated for each position. That means that there was no election as such, but that the seven nominated candidates were merely officially confirmed as the new executive members of NPL. Kauta took over from Johny Doeseb, who resigned in February this year. In his acceptance speech, the new chairman called for unity as football recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Kauta will be deputised by Black Africa's Kadas Paulinho, while Rundu Chief's Thomas Shapi, Tura Magic's Peter Nakurua, Young African's Marley Ngarizemo, Civics Victor Amunyela and Eleven Arrows Gabriel Tjombe make up the seven members executive committee. Namibia Football Association's Head of Competitions was observing the process. Titus Kunamwene further spoke on behalf of the mother body. “Everything went by the book and it is good to see that the football people are united. It's for the new members to work hard now,” Kunamwene added. The new executives are expected to meet next week Tuesday to pin down the way forward.
