The Namibia Correctional Services have said that the oldest inmate in custody is 77 years old and is serving a 14-year sentence for murder, while the average age of inmates at the facility is between 29 and 38, according to figures provided by the authorities.

Many offenders come out reformed from the rehabilitation centres. 

However, some struggle to be accepted by society after release, which pushes them into despair. 

Quinton Pieters, who was sentenced to 163 years in prison for various crimes, remains hopeful that one day he will reclaim his freedom.
