Mboweni, South Africa's first black Reserve Bank Governor post-1994, passed away on Saturday after a brief illness.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the death of former Minister Tito Mboweni, who passed away at 65 after a short illness. 

Mboweni, South Africa's first Minister of Labour from 1994 to 1999 and later Governor of the Reserve Bank, served as Finance Minister from 2018 to 2021.
