Ministry of Health addresses implementation challenges and advances in service delivery

The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) has finalised some of its directives set out under its National Management Development Forum (NMDF).

One of the directives that is a challenge is the implementation of the performance management system.

The Executive Director of the Ministry, Ben Nangombe, has undertaken some interventions to ensure the full implementation of this directive.

The Health and Social Services Minister, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula has expressed Namibia's commitment to achieving universal health coverage by 2030, in line with the global goal of ensuring access to quality healthcare for all. 

This commitment was one of the resolutions adopted at the 76th World Health Summit in Geneva.

Namibia joined over 170 member states at the World Health Summit in Geneva, which focused on a primary health approach and ensuring the highest standard of health for marginalized and less privileged individuals in society. 

Shangula's absence alomost delayed session on Universal Health Coverage

Some Members of Parliament almost stopped a session on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as they were annoyed by the absence of the Minister of Health and Social Services.

The MPs stressed that such a session, currently taking place in Swakopmund, needs to be led by Dr. Kalumbi Shangula.

The aim of the session was to provide an update on Namibia's progress toward UHC policy development.
