Namibia joined the world in observing World Press Freedom Day, with the official handover of the Windhoek Declaration inscription certificate.

The declaration was adopted in Windhoek 35 years ago and remains an important part of global efforts to promote a free, independent, and responsible press.

TSHISEKEDI HINTS AT POSSIBLE THIRD TERM

DRC President Felix Tshisekedi hinted at a potential third term “if people want me” during a World Press Freedom Day event in Kinshasa.

“I haven’t sought a third term, but if the people want me to have one, I will accept it,” he said.

Tomorrow, 7 May, during the signature celebration of World Press Freedom Day, the 1991 Windhoek Declaration will be inscribed in the Memory of the World.

This event will take place in Brussels in Belgium, the host of the World Press Freedom Day celebrations.
