The founder and interim president of the National Organisation of Parents in Education (NAOPE), Paulus Hawanga, has called on all parents to work together with educators to ensure quality education results for children in schools. Hawanga made these remarks during a media briefing held recently in Rundu.

The Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka, says exam results cause anxiety amongst learners and that they need support at all times. 

Nghipondoka said this after an incident where a 17-year-old male learner, Shatiwa Nghifilenga, allegedly committed suicide after failing Grade 11.

The ||Kharas Regional Education Directorate has a management plan in place to deal with learner placement challenges when the new academic year kicks off on Monday.

This was said by the Regional Education Director of the ||Kharas Region, Jesmine Magermann, in her update on the placement of learners.

An 18-year-old learner from Ashipala Secondary School in Omusati Region was arrested after she allegedly killed her newborn child at the school's hostel.

Police preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect gave birth to a baby boy and stuffed toilet paper in the baby's mouth, suffocating him.
