The Chairperson of the One Economy Foundation, Monica Geingos, is in the United Arab Emirates for the inaugural session of Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Health Department in Abu Dhabi, Mansoor Al Mansoori.

The Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW) is a borderless partnership committed to highlighting healthcare and life sciences to solve tomorrow's healthcare challenges. 

Gender-based violence and femicide, as well as sexual reproduction and health rights, continue to grip the attention of the nation as they impact the lives of individuals and communities in Namibia.

For this reason, the One Economy Foundation held a summit for media practitioners to sensitise and create awareness about ethical reporting relating to this matter.

The summit aimed to provide media professionals with the knowledge, skills, and ethical framework necessary to effectively report on and raise awareness about critical issues related to GBV-F and SRHR.

In celebration of journalistic excellence, several dedicated reporters were honoured this past weekend for their outstanding work in shedding light on the critical issues of gender-based violence, femicide, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Hosted by the One Economy Foundation, Friday's ceremony highlighted impactful stories that contributed to raising awareness and fostering change, with respect to gender relations and fostering change in the country.

The One Economy Foundation has raised about N$4.2 million at its eighth annual fundraising gala dinner.

The funds will be used for youth and adolescent development in various fields.

The First Lady, Monica Geingos, described the One Economy Foundation as a stewardship of development to link what is described as the first economy, consisting of middle- and high-income earners, and the second economy, consisting of low-income earners, towards one balanced economy.

The Talented Individuals Programme (TIP) under the One Economy Foundation seeks to provide a supportive environment for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The intention is to structurally reduce entrenched inequality of opportunity by providing funding and mentorship support to young people throughout their secondary education.

As part of the support structure, each fellow will be assigned a mentor, handpicked by the One Economy Foundation.

First Lady Monica Geingos said the mentorship programme is essential for the guidance of the fellows.

The One Economy Foundation, under the #BeFree Banner, organised over the weekend a #BeFree Ballers event that aimed at raising awareness on social ills that often encapsulate sportsmen and women.

The awareness event focused on substance abuse, sexual health, and violence.

These are some of the issues that sportswomen and men always find themselves engulfed in.

Professional football player Thomalina Adams raised issues of inequality when it comes to the treatment and payment of female sports personnel as opposed to their male counterparts.

Namibians are confronted with the tragic reality of suicide and mental health issues, particularly among the youth.

In response to this concern, the One Economy Foundation organised a Game Changers event to establish a secure environment for men and youth, fostering open discussions on the various factors that contribute to mental health challenges.

The event was characterised by different activities such as soccer, children's games, and physical exercise to raise awareness about mental health and suicide in the country.

The construction of the One Economy Foundation's #BeFree Centre of Excellence is advancing.

The centre, currently under construction, will see learners from different schools visit the construction site to familiarise themselves with what it is all about as well as the progress made.

The centre, which will provide a safe space for the youth, is situated at Katutura's youth complex.

It will provide an opportunity for the youth to have access to a range of services and resources to unlock their full potential.
