The One Economy Foundation has raised about N$4.2 million at its eighth annual fundraising gala dinner.

The funds will be used for youth and adolescent development in various fields.

President Hage Geingob was the guest of honour at the event.

The First Lady, Monica Geingos, described the One Economy Foundation as a stewardship of development to link what is described as the first economy, consisting of middle- and high-income earners, and the second economy, consisting of low-income earners, towards one balanced economy.

TIP seeks to provide supportive environment for youth

The Talented Individuals Programme (TIP) under the One Economy Foundation seeks to provide a supportive environment for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The intention is to structurally reduce entrenched inequality of opportunity by providing funding and mentorship support to young people throughout their secondary education.

As part of the support structure, each fellow will be assigned a mentor, handpicked by the One Economy Foundation.

First Lady Monica Geingos said the mentorship programme is essential for the guidance of the fellows.

In response to this concern, the One Economy Foundation organised a Game Changers event to establish a secure environment for men and youth, fostering open discussions on the various factors that contribute to mental health challenges.

The event was characterised by different activities such as soccer, children's games, and physical exercise to raise awareness about mental health and suicide in the country.

Construction of #BeFree Centre of Excellence advancing well

The construction of the One Economy Foundation's #BeFree Centre of Excellence is advancing.

The centre, currently under construction, will see learners from different schools visit the construction site to familiarise themselves with what it is all about as well as the progress made.

The centre, which will provide a safe space for the youth, is situated at Katutura's youth complex.

It will provide an opportunity for the youth to have access to a range of services and resources to unlock their full potential.
