Uazuva Kaumbi Buried at Otjiwapeke

Former Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) Board Chairperson Uazuva Kaumbi was buried on Saturday at his home village, Otjiwapeke, in the Daures Constituency.

Survived by his wife and six children, Kaumbi wore many hats owing to his vast knowledge and expertise.

He ensured that the knowledge he gained was passed on to the next generation by moderating at the Namibia Business School and lecturing at the University of Science and Technology.

Mourners from different walks of life all spoke of how much they had learned from him.

Renowned social commentator Dr. Uazuva Kaumbi, aged 60, died early this morning at the Roman Catholic Hospital in Windhoek.

Heinrich Uazuva Kaumbi was born in Windhoek, matriculated from Döbra RC High School, and established himself as a renowned academic and community activist.

Kaumbi had an illustrious career, and his activism and professional world spanned various fields.

After high school, he pursued his studies in South Africa and obtained a BSc degree in engineering.

NUST Interim Council appointed

The Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi, has inaugurated the interim council members of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).

The term of the previous council members ended last month.


The interim council consists of eight members, chaired by Dr. Leake Hangala and deputised by Nora Ndopu.

Others are Dr. Uazuva Kaumbi, Emilia Nghikembua, Sam Nujoma, Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, Dr. Detlof Oertzen, Rachel Kalipi, Kadiva Hamutumwa, Dr. Alfred van Kent, and Flora Gaes.
