President Nangolo Mbumba is saddened by the death of former trade unionist, Alfred Angula.

Angula died on Tuesday, aged 59, at his home in Windhoek.

The family confirmed that he had been battling diabetes, which affected his kidneys.

President Mbumba, in a statement, paid tribute to Angula, saying that he will be remembered for his contributions to the advancement of farm workers and the trade union movement in general.

Various positions the late Angula held include serving as Secretary-General of the Namibia Farmworkers Union and as acting Secretary-General of the National Union of Namibian Workers.

“On behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Namibia, I wish to extend sincere condolences to his wife, the children, and the entire bereaved Angula family,“ Mbumba said.

The late Angula will be buried in Tsumeb on January 11th.
