The Governor of Omaheke has urged farmers in the region to take advantage of the good rains and increase their crop production for future use.

A 170-kilometre stretch of road between Gobabis and Aminuis that has been upgraded to bitumen standards has been officially inaugurated by President Nangolo Mbumba.

The road directly links the Omaheke and Hardap regions.

Zimbabwe's Embassy in Namibia has donated new needlecraft equipment to the Ngaukujame Community Project run by women at Omaheke's Ovinjuru Village. 

Ambassador Melody Chaurura says empowering rural women is one of the fundamental aspects of community development. 

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, is disappointed with some councillors whom he said did not learn anything during the induction.

This, Uutoni said, results in the councillors making catastrophic and uniform decisions contrary to what they were supposed to have learnt. 

The Namibian Revenue Agency (NamRA) says it is faced with difficulties in monitoring the fishing industry, resulting in a loss of revenue.

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) is optimistic about reaching the 1.6 million target for registered voters in the last week of the exercise. The General Registration of Voters ends on Thursday, August 1.

The Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare handed over equipment to 17 income-generating projects in Omaheke Region to help them grow their businesses. 

The Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Council says there is still much work to be done to capacitate young people and coordinate programmes and activities among various institutions, especially at the grassroot level.
