Awareness campaigns and community sensitisation on the Indoor residual spraying (IRS) programme have kicked off in the Zambezi region with a team from the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) travelling to constituencies to engage communities.
Kavango East Region recorded over 23,300 cases of malaria, with 23 deaths.
This was shared during the launch of the indoor residual spray at Popa Malaria Camp in the Andara district.
Health and Social Services Minister Dr. Esperance Luvindao has said that 95,729 cumulative malaria cases were recorded countrywide since the outbreak began in 2024.
Collaboration was highlighted as essential to achieving a malaria-free Namibia during the World Malaria Day commemoration and the launch of the indoor residual spraying campaign in Sibbinda Constituency.
The Kavango East Region has recorded over 3,300 cases of malaria so far this year.
In response, the Ministry of Health and Social Services is urging residents to allow indoor residual spray teams into their homes as the malaria prevention campaign officially kicks off this Monday.
