A two-year emergency food support programme targeting over three thousand households has been launched at Farm Ondera in the Guinas Constituency, Oshikoto region.

Residents of Oerwoud Resettlement Farm in Guinas Constituency, Oshikoto Region, are grateful for the education centre and the health outreach point set up there, but they continue to be challenged by a lack of water, electricity, and land for farming.

The newly elected Councillor for the Guinas Constituency in the Oshikoto Region, Moses Khumub, has expressed condolences on the passing of Founding President Sam Nujoma.

The councillor says he met Nujoma while in primary school in Tsintsabis after independence.

Moses ||Khumub was sworn in as the new councillor for Guinas Constituency today at the Oshikoto Regional Council offices.

||Khumub fills the vacant seat left by the late Elias Marthinus, after securing 1,407 votes in the January by-elections.

The voting process began smoothly at the two polling stations at Oshivelo and Ondera farms for the Guinas Constituency by-election in the Oshikoto Region this morning.

At the Oshivelo Police Station polling station, voting started slow, resulting in a short queue and quick voting.

The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) candidate for the Guinas Constituency, Fransiskus ||Khumub, has promised infrastructure development at Oshivelo once elected as councillor for the Guinas Constituency.

||Khumub was speaking at the LPM rally in Oshivelo.

Swapo's Political Bureau member, Frans Kapofi, has called on party members and supporters to vote for Moses ||Khumub in the Guinas by-election scheduled for next week.

Kapofi spoke at a mini rally at the Ondera Farm.

The people of the Guinas constituency in the Oshikoto Region are still grieving the sudden loss of their councillor, Marthinus Kainda, who died October last year. 

The Landless People's Movement's (LPM) Fransiscus Khumub and his older brother, the Swapo Party's Moses Khumub, are the only two candidates to contest the Oshikoto Region's Guinas constituency by-election set for the 17th of January.

Registered political parties and prospective independent candidates have been reminded that the nomination process for the Guinas Constituency by-election in the Oshikoto Region has commenced.
