The Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, is set to strengthen bilateral cooperation with China during her visit there.

Ashipala-Musavyi is on a working visit from 11 to 18 April 2026.

China's Foreign Affairs Minister, Wang Yi, met with President Nangolo Mbumba and discussed ways to strengthen the two countries bilateral ties.

President Mbumba says China has become a significant partner for Namibia in areas such as trade, infrastructure development, and investment. 

Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has emphasised value addition to Namibia's resources as part of the long-term plan for the country to become a logistics hub in the SADC region.

The visit by the Foreign Affairs Minister of China, Wang Yi, reaffirms the importance of the relations with Namibia, as the two countries focus on implementing bilateral agreements.

China's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi is set to visit Namibia from the 5th to the 7th January 2025.

This was announced by the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, in a statement issued on Thursday.
