The Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, is set to strengthen bilateral cooperation with China during her visit there.
Ashipala-Musavyi is on a working visit from 11 to 18 April 2026.
The minister is in China at the invitation of that country's minister of foreign affairs, Wang Yi.
She is expected to hold high-level bilateral talks with her Chinese counterpart.
The discussions will focus on strengthening trade relations, enhancing economic cooperation and identifying new areas of mutual interest.
She will also promote investment opportunities in Namibia, particularly in mining, energy, agriculture, and tourism.
Namibia and China share long-standing diplomatic relations that date back to Namibia's struggle for independence, during which China provided political and material support.
Since Namibia gained independence in 1990, the two countries have maintained strong ties characterised by cooperation in infrastructure development, trade, education and technical assistance.
China remains one of Namibia's largest trading partners, with bilateral trade continuing to grow over the years.
Chinese investments have contributed significantly to Namibia's development, particularly in construction, mining and energy projects.
