China's Foreign Affairs Minister, Wang Yi, met with President Nangolo Mbumba and discussed ways to strengthen the two countries bilateral ties.
President Mbumba says China has become a significant partner for Namibia in areas such as trade, infrastructure development, and investment.
Mbumba told Wang that Namibia stands ready to participate in agreements on education and training, infrastructure, health, the digital economy, trade, and investment facilitation.
He says other areas of cooperation are poverty reduction, food security, agriculture, financing, talent development, and women and youth matters, as well as cooperation in international affairs.
Namibia has similarly expressed an interest in cooperating with China on the development of green hydrogen, solar, hydro-wind, and nuclear energy.
Mbumba says Namibia wants to add value to its uranium for the peaceful development of nuclear energy.
Wang emphasised that China's partnership with African nations is built on mutual respect and non-interference in domestic affairs—a sentiment that resonates with Namibia's approach to foreign relations.
For China, strengthening ties with Namibia also helps further its influence in Africa and build on shared interests.
