The Urban and Rural Development Ministry was dealt a blow after the Windhoek High Court set aside a ministerial decision to block the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer at the Municipality of Outjo.

Since 2015, alleged corruption, theft and financial mismanagement in the public sector have left more than N$12.3 billion of public resources unaccounted for.

Some matters, including cases that involve state-linked institutions and state enterprises, remain under investigation or are before the courts.

The Namibia dollar has strengthened against the US dollar compared to the same period last year.

As of the start of this year, the exchange rate stood at around N$16 to US$1, an improvement from the N$18 recorded around this time in January 2025.

The Windhoek High Court has awarded N$14 million in damages to Angolan national Matheus Shakolo after the Ministry of Health and Social Services failed to oppose his medical negligence lawsuit.
