43-year-old truck driver Robbert Amutenya, who allegedly blocked traffic in Orwetoveni after refusing a breathalyser test, appeared in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate's Court today.

The mother of one of the accused in the Rehoboth drug case, Shirley Beukes (62), says she wants her son to remain in custody.

Beukes told NBC News her son, Menschel Beukes (33), has repeatedly caused her hardship.

The bail application for one of the five Rehoboth residents accused of drug dealing and money laundering has been postponed to Monday, 29 December, due to the unavailability of the resident magistrate. 

The family of the late Florence Nghifikwa, supported by community members, handed over a petition to State prosecutors at the Katutura Magistrate's Court opposing bail for Elias Shityeni, the man charged in connection with her murder.

The Elindi brothers, who have been arrested and accused in the alleged NAMCOR multi-million dollar corruption scandal, have approached the High Court to have their bail denial by Magistrate Linus Samunzala set aside.

Magistrate Linus Samunzala has denied bail to all bail applicants in the NAMCOR proceedings.

The applicants include Immanuel Mulunga, Peter Elindi, Malakia Elindi, Olivia Dunaiski, Jennifer Hamukwaya, and Leo Nandago.

Former Minister of Agriculture Mac Albert Hengari told the Windhoek Magistrate's Court that Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo informed him that the police were under political, public, and media pressure to act on rape allegations brought against him.

Bail has been denied for the five men arrested in connection with an armed robbery at the Big Boss Casino Bar in Mondesa, Swakopmund.

Joel Angula (45), one of the suspects implicated in Saturday’s diamond heist, appeared before the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court today.

Angula faces multiple charges, including one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of uncut rough diamonds.

Joakim Kayangura was denied bail in the Rundu Magistrate Court following his arrest in the hit and run that occurred along the Trans Zambezi Highway.

The incident happened over the weekend. 

Julius Haupindi, 21, who was among the five victims, died instantly.
