The disruption happened a few minutes after the mayor and the deputy mayor handed over their mayoral regalia on Monday.

Windhoek Rural Councillor, Piet Adams, has highlighted the dire challenges faced by the community of Groot |Aub and surrounding areas, such as landlessness and wealth inequality. 

Groot |Aub is a settlement located about 60 kilometres south of Windhoek.

The City of Windhoek has announced that municipal tariffs have been increased by five percent since the 1st of October.

The increase relates to water, rates and taxes, sewerage, and waste management.

CoW resolves to give land ownership to the Habitat self-help group

The City of Windhoek has resolved to give land ownership to the Habitat self-help group. 

The hundred-member group has been requesting the municipality for the title deeds for years. 

About 25 years ago, the group built 120 houses in Katutura's Hakahana residential area. 

Windhoek Mayor urges residents to stop stealing newly planted trees

City of Windhoek's mayor, Queen Kamati, urged residents to refrain from stealing trees that are being planted in various parts of the city.

Kamati made this call as the City of Windhoek joined the world in commemorating Arbor Day, with 128  trees being planted to foster a green city.
