The position of Deputy Leader of the Landless People's Movement (LPM) remains vacant following the resignation of Henny Seibeb last month.

In a striking political shift, former Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) MP Vipuakuje Muharukua, has switched allegiance to the ruling Swapo Party.

Muharukua, who resigned from PDM barely three months ago, declared his support for Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in the November national elections. 

Swapo Party Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa reminded elected leaders to live up to the people's expectations, saying that the electorate looks up to them for service delivery.

She was speaking at a rally at Mbambazi Village in the Zambezi Region over the weekend.

Swapo Party's Central Committee Member Albert Kawana has welcomed 500 new members in Kabbe North District`.

Welcoming the new members, Dr. Kawana reminded them that Swapo did not only fight for the liberation of the country but for the wellbeing of all citizens, irrespective of their background.

The Swapo Party welcomed over a hundred new members at the party's 64th anniversary.

The former Mayor of Mariental, who previously served in the council on the Landless Peoples Movement ticket, Adam Kuhlman, was among those who joined the Swapo Party. 

Swapo Party Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on party members to defend the foundation that paved the way for the country's hard-won independence. 

She made the call at the party's 64th-anniversary commemoration at Mariental in the Hardap Region. 

Swapo Party Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa has affirmed that the party will continue to strengthen its relationship with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). 

Education is the key to accessing opportunities for development presented by both the Namibian government and through the country's natural resources.

This was said by Swapo Party member Verna Sinimbo at Sifuha Village in the Zambezi Region.

Former Governor of the Erongo Region, Samuel Nuuyoma, says the Swapo Party is determined and ready to improve the living conditions of Namibians because that is the reason the party fought and sacrificed to liberate the country.

Some Swapo Party members in Kapako in the Kavango West Region are accusing the leadership of discrimination and intimidation.
