In a significant development for sports in the northern part of Namibia, the Okahao Town Council recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the transformation of the Ehao Cultural Expo Center into a state-of-the-art multipurpose sports field.

The event took place at the Ehao Cultural Expo Centre in the Omusati Region, drawing the participation of notable figures in the sports community.

The Education Director in the Omusati Region, Benny Eiseb, is concerned about water shortages being experienced at a number of schools in the region.

Eiseb informed the Prime Minister, who was in the region to assess service delivery, that 40 schools in the region were facing water shortages.

Some schools are sharing water from community boreholes with schools that have no source of water. However, the tires of the car, which the directorate uses to take water to schools, are worn out.

The Okahao Town Council is faced with a high demand for land in all income categories.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Junias Jakob, in an interview with nbc News, said the town has ample land for both residential and industrial use, but it needs to be served.

As part of its remedial mechanisms, the Council has given 70 erven to the National Housing Enterprise to construct low-cost affordable houses.
