The Namibian Police urged the residents of Groot |Aub to break their silence about the increasing number of gender-based violence (GBV) cases at the settlement.

Child rape continues unabated

A Grade 6 female learner was allegedly raped and later fell pregnant in the Oshikoto Region.

The police report states that the incident occurred between April and July of this year.

Oshana records 260 cases of GBV since January 2023

The Oshana Region has since January this year recorded 260 cases of Gender-Based Violence.

Chief Inspector Kaarina Shiimi says 61 rapes were reported in the region, of which 25 victims are children.
