Learners urged to break cycle of poverty through education

The Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture Executive Director, Sanet Steenkamp, has reminded learners of their responsibility to break the cycle of unemployment and poverty through education, saying it rests with them.

Since 1992, the government has constructed 419 schools across the country. 

Currently, there are 2,036 registered schools in total, catering to 896,311 learners. 

The teacher population stands at 33,322, 22,000 of whom are female.
