Victims of the failed trip to the United Kingdom organized by the Regional Councilor of Katutura Central Rodman Katjaimo are still depressed and disappointed.

nbc News spoke to Ivone Tjisemo and Tjijandjeua Hukununa two of the more than 100 alleged victims who spent more than N$55 000 on the Birmingham dream trip. 

The young women had their parents sell cattle in the hope of traveling to the UK on a six months visa and finding employment that could have changed their lives.

Many dreams were allegedly sold to them by Katjaimo, including longer-stay visas. 

Some Ongwediva residents trapped in houses by flood waters refuse to be relocated

Ongwediva Constituency Councillor Andreas Uutoni is dismayed by residents who are trapped in houses by flood waters but are refusing to be relocated.

He says some affected villagers at Elombe who need to be relocated are demanding for individual tents to be erected in their mahangu fields to house them, but he says it is not possible.

Areas that are heavily affected in the Ongwediva Constituency are Eenghala village, Ohambungu, Okatope, Omatunda, Okadila, Oidiva, Onheleiwa, Ongwediva Sky 1,2 and 3 and Reception Area 1,2 and 3.

Epupa Constituency councilor Kuunoko Tjimutambo opposes construction of hydroelectric dam

Epupa Constituency Councilor Kuuoko Tjimutambo has reiterated his position over the construction of a hydroelectric dam at Epupa, saying the marginalized community will be negatively affected.

Tjimutambo confronted a stakeholders conference on the Baynes Hydropower Project that took place in Swakopmund, arguing that the construction of an electricity plant is all well and good, but the designated site is considered an ancestral burial ground.

If the community is to be moved, he suggests that they be resettled on government farms.

Windhoek City Councilor Kahungu lashes out at officials who fail to address public complaints

Windhoek City Councillor Fransina Kahungu has expressed disappointment with some officials who do not attend to public reports on time in order to fix broken infrastructure such as pipes, taps, and toilets.

Kahungu, who was speaking at a public engagement, says maintenance should be done while the institution still has funds to allow residents to pay for the services required.

Plans are underway to drill two boreholes at the Tsumkwe settlement as the influx of people continues to put pressure on the authorities to provide basic services such as water and sanitation.

This was revealed by regional councillor Johannes Haufiku, who stated that the boreholes would provide much-needed relief to the more than 5,000 people who live there.

At the moment, the water is sparingly shared from six boreholes, whose water pressure also serves the two government schools with a population of 1200 learners and 42 teachers.

Tsumkwe Councillor and WAD train unemployed youths in short courses

The Councillor for the Tsumkwe Constituency, Johannes Haufiku, with the Women's Action for Development, has undertaken to train unemployed youths in short courses.

The training comes after the San people did not make it through recruitment in the Namibia Defence Force as a result of their low level of education.

The majority of those absorbed for training are women and young girls, most of whom are school dropouts.
