President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has highlighted that Namibia and China will continue to strengthen their bilateral relations to enhance economic development and create employment opportunities.
Dr Nandi-Ndaitwah said the government would continue to regard the private sector as a strategic partner in implementing NDP 6 through various investments.
The president made the remarks during the opening of the Ohangwena Times Square Shopping Complex at Helao Nafidi.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah said the new development was a testament to the private sector's confidence in Namibia and its willingness to seize various opportunities available.
She called on investors to transfer skills to ensure that investments flourish and contribute to the well-being of Namibia and its people.
The President announced that the government is ready to issue five-year visas to serious investors.
She added that strengthening commercial links between Namibia and China remains paramount to addressing various development agendas.
She also called for the introduction of local sections in shops to sell products made by the locals.
The President further called for compliance with the country's labour laws.
Ohangwena Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa noted that the region remains open for business, urging them to invest.
China's Ambassador to Namibia Zhao Weiping said he is happy with trade volumes between the two countries.
Helao Nafidi Town mayor Darius Shaalukeni stated that the development has not just created a face-lift to the border town but also brought employment opportunities.
