President Mbumba calls for unity amid drought

President Nangolo Mbumba has urged Namibians to share food and other basic amenities with others amidst the drought situation.

Dr. Mbumba made these remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ondonga Heritage Shrine held in Ondonga village.

President Mbumba reiterated that the predicament that Namibia finds itself in is a challenge, especially for households with no sources of income and who solely depend on crops.

Poor rainfall experienced during the past rainy season has left little or no harvest for some households.

Omaheke Council aims to improve residents' living standards

The Omaheke Regional Council is aimed at improving the living standards of the local people through various interventions, such as employment creation and other capital projects. 

Speaking at the first ordinary council meeting at Gobabis, the Chairperson, Ignatius Kariseb, pointed out that agriculture is one of the key areas with immense potential to create job opportunities and address pressing social issues faced by communities, such as food insecurity.

The Minister of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism has called on communal farmers to embrace food diversification to improve their livelihoods and the country's food security.

Pohamba Shifeta made the call when handing over the Climate Change Project to the |Huibes Conservancy in the Hardap Region. 

The Climate Change Project, under the theme 'Integrated Wildlife and Sustainable Rangeland Management for Improved Livelihoods,' is funded by the Environment Investment Fund.
