His death was announced by President Nangolo Mbumba this morning.

Nujoma died on Saturday, 08 February 2025, at the age of 95 in a private hospital in Windhoek, Namibia. He is survived by his wife, Kovambo Nujoma, and two sons.

Dr. Tshali Iithete informed nbc News that Nujoma was hospitalised last week but has since been discharged.

The Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi, has inaugurated the interim council members of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).

The term of the previous council members ended last month.
