Minister of Finance joins youth-led cleanup campaign at Green Leaves Primary School

The "Minister of Finance Gets His Hands Dirty with the Youth" campaign kicked off at Green Leaves Primary School in Okahandja Park today. Led by National Council member Emma Muteka, who also serves as Secretary General of the Tukwatha Youth Organization, the event aims to highlight the importance of collective action in creating a cleaner and safer environment.

City Police holds engagement with Okahandja Park community

Hunger and a lack of parental care are said to have driven many children in Windhoek's Okahandja Informal Settlement to the streets.

But the end results aren't pleasing.

The City Police held an engagement with the community of Okahandja Park following the observation of too many children roaming around the streets.

Many of the children from Okahandja Park walk to the Grove Mall in Kleine Kuppe, Town Square in the CBD, and other areas.

There, according to the City Police, they snatch people's handbags and beg for food and money.

Green Leaves Primary School still pushing to accommodate more learners

Some schools in the capital are doing all they can to accommodate children attending school.

One such is the Green Leaves Primary School, situated in one of the city's most populated informal settlements, Okahandja Park.

The Green Leaves Primary School opened its doors in 2015 and accommodates more than 1,800 learners. 

The school has 41 teachers and 32 classrooms, each taking between 35 and 40 learners.

Okahandja Park Woman Arrested for Arson, Murder

A case of arson and an alternative charge of murder were opened at the Wanaheda Police Station against a 30-year-old woman who set a shack alight at Windhoek's Okahandja Park, resulting in the deaths of her boyfriend and a female companion.

The gruesome incident happened early this morning.

According to Nampol spokeswoman Kauna Shikwambi, the suspect became enraged after discovering her boyfriend with another woman.

According to witnesses, she allegedly threatened to burn down the shack at the informal settlement located outside Windhoek.
