ECN to receive ballot papers today

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) will receive the ballot papers for the Regional Council and Local Authority Elections today. ECN, in a press statement, says, "the printing of ballot papers has been successfully completed and will be airlifted from Durban, South Africa to Namibia through the Hosea Kutako International Airport today. The expected arrival time is 16h30." Political parties, associations/organisations and independent candidates who wish to observe the arrival of the ballot papers are invited to do so. The ballot papers will be escorted under strict security detail by the Namibian Police to the ECN stores in Bisemmer Street. From Saturday 14 November to Tuesday 17 November ballot papers will be sorted and distributed according to respective constituencies, local authorities and polling teams in the presence of representatives of all political contestants. Ballot papers will be dispatched to all regions from 18 to 20 November. The 25 November elections will be contested through ballot papers after the Supreme Court declared electronic voting machines (EVM) without a verifiable paper trail invalid.
