Environment Ministry auctions elephants to minimise human-elephant conflicts

Government is expected to make N$5,9 million from a recent elephant auction. Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism spokesperson, Romeo Muyunda, says the ministry is busy capturing 57 elephants that were successfully sold in a recent auction. About 37 elephants have already been captured. With proceeds of the auction, Muyunda states, the ministry intends to reduce elephant numbers in specified areas to minimise human-elephant conflicts.
