Gobabis man attacks wife and breaks daughter’s arm

A 44-year-old man from Gobabis was arrested on Friday in a gender-based violence case after allegedly breaking his daughter’s arm who was trying to prevent him from attacking her mother. A weekend Namibian Police crime report issued on Sunday by police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, said that the man allegedly injured his 11-year-old daughter with a panga after she tried to stop him from attacking her mother who is also his wife. It is alleged that the girl sustained serious injuries that include a broken arm and serious open wounds on the back and neck. The incident reportedly happened between 00h00 and 02h00 at Freedom Square in Epako. In a separate incident, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Thursday at Eeshoke Village in Oshikango Constituency at around 21h30. It is alleged that the suspect, who is known by the victim but not yet arrested, pretended to be escorting the victim to her house but pushed her to the ground in the bushes and raped her. Another rape incident was reported at Naango location in Ruacana where it’s alleged that a 30-year-old woman was raped by an unknown suspect at around 17h00 on Saturday. “It is alleged that the suspect threatened to cut off the victim’s head and put it in the fridge while he also slapped her on the face,” the report said. The suspect is not yet arrested and police will continue with investigations. On Friday, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men at Ndama location in Rundu at around 20h00. It is alleged that the suspects unlawfully and intentionally pulled and pushed the victim behind a house and raped her. The suspects are not arrested and police investigations continue. The police also reported that the body of a 40-year-old-man was found in a riverbed in Katutura on Saturday at around 07h00. The man was identified as Mbaindjikua Eksteen who was found with a swollen face and bleeding forehead while his one foot was covered in mud. His next of kin have been informed. Another murder case was opened in Windhoek on Saturday at around 08h00 when the body of 35-year-old Paulus Lukas was also found in a riverbed with multiple stab wounds. His next of kin are informed and investigations continue.
