The Ohangwena Police is investigating a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances after a man was robbed of N$120 000 in Omafo. Three unknown male suspects held the victim at gunpoint and stabbed him in the left hip with a knife, and then robbed him of money and a cellphone. The victim withdrew N$120 000, which he converted to South African Rand, earlier in the day and police say that the suspects may have followed him from the bank. The police are therefore urging the public to be vigilant of people who stand in the bank queues allowing others to proceed to the teller, as they are on the lookout for possible victims who withdraw large sums of money. These suspects inside the banks form part of a syndicate with others to whom they communicate the information and who will then carry out the robbery. No arrests have been made and police investigations into the matter continue.
