While summer is the best time for children to play and explore their surroundings, many seek relief from the heat in and around water, which could be risky. And that is why Monarch Lifeguards, an organisation that gives training on water rescue and safety education and diving, has been visiting schools to raise water safety awareness for children. The organisation aims to teach young children to swim at an early age, as it believes that learning how to swim is a skill that will last a lifetime, and may even save a life. Children also learn how to perform CPR. The organisation is worried about the increasing number of children who drown each year and is calling for action to be taken to prevent this from happening. This week Monarch Lifeguards visited the Academia Secondary School and are encouraging other schools to call and benefit from this free water safety awareness program.
