Namibia celebrates Day of the African Child

Namibia on Saturday celebrated the Day of the African Child. The Day is celebrated every year since 1991 when it was first initiated by the Organisation of African Unity in honour of those who participated in the Soweto Uprising in 1976 on that day. Celebrating the day at Okakarara, learners called on the Government to invest in educational programmes that address the country's socio-economic development challenges.
