Swapo Party members from the Lüderitz and Oranjemund branches in the ||Kharas Region were equipped with political education and capacity-building training needed to become better leaders.

The one-day training was held in Lüderitz, where the Central Committee and Political Bureau members of Swapo, including prominent lawyer Sisa Namandje, served as keynote speakers at the opening.

The main purpose of this training is to ensure branch leaders understand the party's structures, principles, and values, enabling them to effectively guide and serve their communities within the party framework.

Namandje emphasised that training is more than just under the party constitution, but they must understand the overall values of the state.

"This training is not only restricted to only knowing of the constitution of the party and state because, overall, we are all subjected to the constitution of the state. There is no point in you being well prepared on the constitution of the party if you don't know what the foundation values of the state are."

Matheus Mumbala, the Swapo ||Kharas Regional Coordinator, further urged party members to be committed, work diligently every day, and strive to deliver quality services to the people.

"I expect every public representative to discharge their responsibility with urgency, professionalism and commitment, because the mandate given to us by the people demands nothing less than our best."

The training overall covered topics including party constitution, party ideology, party rules and procedures, the party code of conduct, and the constitutional responsibilities of regional and local authority councils. It also explored the origins of the Lüderitz Waterfront Development and the economic sectors in Oranjemund.
