The Otjovahonge Queens group has supported young girls of Waterberg Primary School in Okakarara with sanitary pads and cosmetics as an aim to keep the girl child in school.

The all-woman group says this initiative was targeting learners who are less fortunate and dwelling in the hostels.

As its first-ever public outreach, the 25-member group targeted 400 learners to receive kits valued at over 2500 dollars.

Kariri Kauami, a group member, says, "This school has a hostel, and some kids are coming from these disadvantaged families. It's where we think that it will be better for us to help them, and one of our members of Otjovahonge Queens is a teacher at the school; she saw what's going on, so she invited us to do this donation to the school."

They say this initiative will form part of its outreach in different areas, as whatever donation it inspires will be a wave of generosity.

Receiving the items in behalf of the Waterberg Primary School acting principal Georgeline Hindjou and Okakarara Constituency Councillor Kapika Tjaverua had this to say, "On behalf of Waterberg Primary School, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Otjovahonge Queens for their generosity and kindness to support, for the support they made. Their support really makes a big difference to our school and also to the lives of our learners."

"I really support the initiative by the Queens, and I'm also requesting more associations, more groups to plough back within the community. So really, I really appreciate the gesture, so let's hope for the best."
