Ncamagoro man hacks grandmother to death

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday by the Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) at Kaguni Village of the Kavango West Region after he allegedly hacked his 80-year-old grandmother with an axe to death. Kaguni village is situated about 20 kilometres south of Rundu along the Rundu-Grootfontien road, in the Ncamagoro Constituency. NAMPOL Regional Commander in the Kavango West Region, Commissioner Josephat Abel confirmed the incident to NAMPA on Wednesday morning, saying the suspect allegedly used a traditional axe to hack his grandmother’s head from the back. She died instantly. Abel said investigations are still ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing. “That is something that we still haven’t established yet but we are still investigating,” he said. The deceased was identified as Antonia Sikerete, a resident of Kaguni village, and her next of kin have been informed. The suspect is expected to make his first appearance in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Thursday. -NAMPA
