Residents of Nossobville have expressed dissatisfaction with their suburb falling under the Kalahari Constituency instead of the Gobabis Constituency. In a petition submitted to Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate by members of the Nossobville Development Committee on Wednesday, the residents asked the office of the governor to issue a recommendation to the Delimitation Commission to move Nossobville from the Kalahari Constituency to the Gobabis Constituency. This would enable them to benefit from the Gobabis Constituency’s developmental plans, they argue. Nossobville is recognised as a suburb by the Gobabis Municipality, which provides municipal services to the settlement, but it falls under the Kalahari Constituency. The residents pay their rates and taxes to the Gobabis Municipality as the suburb is managed by the municipality. “We are part of the Gobabis Constituency as well as the Kalahari Constituency, which in our view is illegal, yet not a single councillor complained about it,” read the petition. According to the residents, the suburb has suffered from a lack of development because of its dual political arrangements. -NAMPA
