About 250 people flocked to the Neckartal Dam on the outskirts of Keetmanshoop to witness first hand, the filling up of the country's largest dam. NAMWATER has provided the public with the opportunity to visit the dam which is currently 85% full. Visitors were, however, urged to comply with the COVID-19 regulations. Many took pictures, while some just took the time to enjoy the breathtaking landscape. The Neckartal Dam has a surface area of 25 kilometres and a capacity of 850 million cubic meters. An Irrigation scheme of 5 000 hectares is expected to start soon. The project will among others, grow, maize, wheat, dates and grapes.
