Police want help in Havana rape and murder cases

The Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) have called on the public to assist in apprehending suspects in the recent cases of rape and murder that occurred in Windhoek’s Havana informal settlement. In a media statement on Sunday, NAMPOL said the public should come forward with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects in the rape of a 12-year-old-girl and murder of a man who came to the aid of a relative who was also raped. The suspects are wanted in connection with Wanaheda rape, housebreaking with intent to rob and robbery and assault through threatening and rape, theft and murder. “The suspects are still unknown and still at large. No arrests were made. However, there are some leads and clues the police are working on in order to trace the suspects. The public is reminded that the reward of N$160 000 still stands for information to be provided which may lead to the positive identification, arrest and prosecution of the suspects,” NAMPOL said. The information will be handled with confidentiality, it added. In addition to the previously disseminated contact details of the investigating officers, the public is also advised to furnish any information to Commissioner Moritz Naruseb at 0813052897, Deputy Commissioner Sydney Philander at 0811243174 or Detective Chief Inspector Simeon Nghilalulwan at 0812560988. -NAMPA
