President Hage Geingob co-chaired the Forum Friends of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACfTA), at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, with Presidents Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, Botswana’s Mokgweetsi Masisi and Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. The AfCFTA represents a major opportunity for countries to boost growth, drive structural transformation, reduce poverty and broaden economic inclusion. The AfCFTA entered into force on 30 May 2019, following the ratification of its Agreement by 22 African states and trading commenced on the 1st of January 2021. The session explored how public-private partnerships can support the implementation of the AfCFTA.
