The Roads Authority (RA) has announced the temporary closure of some roads in the Kunene Region due to heavy rains. Motorists are being cautioned that a section of the Uis- Khorixas road is not accessible due to flooding on the Ugab Bridge and some sections on this road were severely damaged. There is also no access to Twyfelfontein due to flooding of the Aba-Huab River. The RA says flooding on the road between Palmwag and Sesfontein has cut off access to Sesfontein. The Langasem pass on the way to Khorixas was washed out for approximately 7 kilometres, and road users are urged to not attempt crossing the Unib and Huab Rivers during this period. The road is only accessible by 4x4 cars using extreme caution. Monitoring of roads and continuous updates will be communicated, RA says.
