Shifeta launches national park management and tourism development plans

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism has launched the Park Management and Tourism Development plans for the North Eastern and Tsau //Kaeb national parks. Pohamba Shifeta said the plans will strengthen integrated park management and biodiversity conservation of these areas. The plans set out objectives and guidelines for the management and development of the National Parks. The minister further explained that the Park Management Plans, come with a five-year operational plan, to assist the ministry with annual budgeting for park-based management activities. The plans also serve as a business framework for the parks. Shifeta also announced that the future outlook of the ministry is to develop Management and Tourism Development Plans for all the protected areas. The ministry is revising the National Parks Management and Tourism Development Plans for Etosha, Mangetti, Namib Naukluft, Dorob, and the Skeleton Coast.
