Shivute defends NHE CEO

The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) management team last week petitioned the Urban and Rural Development Minister and the Minister of Public Enterprises asking them to remove the board and chief executive officer (CEO), Gisbertus Mukulu. NHE board chairperson, Sam Shivute met, and according to a source in management, informed them to “go-ahead petition the appointing authority”, telling the managers that they have no authority to fire him. “Managers don’t have the authority to discuss the CEO’s performance,” said Shivute, according to the source. He allegedly further said should management have issues with his presence on the board they can approach even the President. At the meeting, Shivute announced the renewal of the CEO’s contract and invited employees to join him congratulating the CEO.
