The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General has repeated his call for a global response package of at least US$200 billion in aid for Africa to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Antonio Guterres says there is a need to strengthen healthcare systems, maintain food supplies, avoid a financial crisis, support education, protect jobs, curb potential income loss and export earnings in Africa, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
