//Hawebahe Hoeseb, Education Director of //Kharas said all 46 public schools in the region have computers and access to internet facilities but network speed in some areas are slow. However, some learners don't have access to gadgets to benefit from e-learning. Materials have therefore been prepared at schools and are collected by learners and parents with social distancing being practice during collection. However, Hoeseb doesn't know how many learners have access to gadgets as there has been no survey done. Zambezi director, Joy Mamili-Mbangu said the region has 108 public schools and six private schools with most urban schools equipped but some rural schools don't have electricity. Eighty-five of the region's schools are in rural areas. Apart from connectivity, the capacity of teachers to use technology, capacity and subject knowledge of patents or caregivers, as well as access to the technology of learners and the cost of connectivity, are challenges. She said teachers have formed WhatsApp groups and are accessible through the phone to assist learners. Learning packages are distributed to learners in rural areas with no access to electronic means. The two directors were speaking at the COVID-19 Communication Centre this afternoon.
