The Municipality of Walvis Bay said it plans to improve the conditions of roads in the coastal town, come next year. This includes the upgrading of gravel roads around the Tutaleni area, as well as the rebuilding of a section of Brandberg Street in Kuisebmund to commence early in 2021. The Walvis Bay municipality, in a media statement, said despite the holdup caused by the pandemic and the lockdown, the Department of Roads and Building Control has managed to move ahead with advanced plans to improve the current condition of roads. It said a contractor for the annual road repair contract will be appointed this month to attend to pothole repairs and urgent reinstatement of trenches caused by repairs to water and sewer lines. The coastal municipality stated that it was in the process of strengthening the capacity of the internal pothole repair team, to improve the turnaround time in attending to road repairs and emergency trench reinstatement.
