Waterberg Plateau Resort turned into quarantine facility

The Waterberg Plateau Resort in the Otjozondjupa Region has been turned into a COVID-19 quarantine facility to accommodate a group of Namibians that returned from South Africa on Monday. Otjozondjupa Regional Health Director, Gerbhardo Timotheus, in an interview with NAMPA, on Tuesday said 47 people have been allocated rooms at the centre for a period of 14 days for observation purposes before they are allowed to join their family members. He said the group was screened and tested upon arrival on Monday, and none of them showed symptoms of the Coronavirus (COVID19). “Their quarantine is just part of the requirements needed for any person who enters the country from somewhere else,” Timotheus said. They will be re-tested after 14 days before being released. The group compromises mainly young people from different regions. Another group of 35 Namibians and foreigners is also quarantined at the Gross Barmen Resort outside Okahandja. Waterberg and Gross Barmen are State-owned tourism facilities, falling under the administration of the Namibia Wildlife Resort.
