The bail hearing application of Nigel van Wyk, one of the accused in the fishrot scandal, has been postponed to 11 April.
Van Wyk is remanded in custody until his next appearance.
Responding to questions from his lawyer, Mbanga Siyomunje, Van Wyk submitted that his separation from his family had taken a toll on their livelihoods and his wife's health.
He thus urged the Court to uphold the Constitutional provision of protecting families.
Van Wyk assured the court that he would comply with all bail conditions and would not interfere with the investigation.
He also contested that the state's case against him is weak as he was not part of the scandal or the proceeds of crime in the fishrot case.
Van Wyk argued that he had been unfairly charged with some individuals whom he had never known or seen before his arrest.
He felt that his fundamental rights had been violated and that he deserved to be released until proven guilty.
The State is expected to cross-examine Van Wyk when the hearing resumes.
