Twenty-eight beneficiaries from the John Pandeni Constituency received equipment and material to support their small businesses.

The equipment and material given through the SME support programme are worth N$250 000.

Each year the Khomas Regional Council allocates N$2.5 million towards this programme in its 10 constituencies

The income-generating programmes are purposely designed and approved by the councils to assist mainly small businesses.

John Pandeni Constituency Councillor Shaakuleni Moonde said, "if you look at the last two years we were hit by COVID-19, people lost their jobs, we were hit by an economic recession and from our constituency, we thought it would be appropriate to support our small businesses because again it would lift a little bit of the burden or ease pressure as we have a lot of people coming or the office looking for assistance."

The council urged beneficiaries not to sell the equipment as some beneficiaries have done in the past.

Income-Generating Equipment beneficiary Lorraine Dausab has urged other beneficiaries to look after the donations to be able to make money and support their families, she further encouraged them to not let them sit and be a white elephant in their houses.

The beneficiaries received various items ranging from hair dryers, copy machines, welding and gardening tools, car wash equipment amongst others.
